Inspiration: Elephant Magazine part 1

Editor Marc Valli has an unfair advantage over many other magazine editors. He knows precisely which magazines never sell and which ones are gone within five minutes of going on the shelves. He has read possibly ever magazine published. He knows who's on the cover of every major influential arts and visual culture magazine. He knows it all basically.

How can he have so much knowledge?

He works in a magazine/book shop.

Obviously

Elephant comes to us care of Magma, which published the Winter 2009-10 Launch Issue last month and features such highlights as interviews with Peter Saville and Fernando Gutierrez, an incredible piece on the new collage movement and a city guide to Sao Paulo.

'Todays magazine industry seems remarkably poor in terms of innovative concepts. Now and then, there's an exception, but in general, magazines all seem to follow the same formula."

Direct, sincere and multi-disciplinary, Elephant draws its inspiration from a time when 'artists didn't value their work according to the auction prices, but by the reaction of their peers to their ideas.'
