Feeling Sassy!





Running from 1989 to 1994, Sassy was not your typical teen girl mag as it aimed at the alternative, indie market.  At first, this magazine caught my eye just because it is so unbelievably 'nineties' looking. The typography and the layout is kitsch, messy and the colour scheme is garish. But, that's what the 90s were all about!

Now, I never read this magazine when I was younger, in fact, I'd never heard of it until today! But when I came across these images on the net I was overcome with a sense of nostalgia and am now eager to get my hands on a copy...even though it's full of articles such as this:




I knew PMS was just a myth that 'the man' has brainwashed me to believe in! 
Sassy magazine has a subtle sense of irony which enhances its editorial style. Just look at this cover below.

If I was an alternative teenage girl living in America 16 years ago I'd definitely have a subscription!
